Derek is a former Garmann Miller intern success story, having spent time with our designers during his 2016 and 2017 seasonal breaks while attending The Ohio State University. He serves as the co-director of Fort Wayne operations in managing the northeast Indiana efforts from our downtown Electric Works office. A graduate of the OSU Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture, Derek graduated cum laude and earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture with honors and minored in landscape architecture. He attended the Sam Fox School of Design at Washington University in St. Louis and earned his master’s degree in architecture in 2020. His responsibilities have ranged throughout all phases of construction, from preliminary site capacity studies and massing/programming to zoning packages. He has also supported construction document production, modeling, project coordination and construction administration. A fun fact about Derek is that he did a western Europe independent study, during which he visited the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany and other countries during a six-week study abroad program.
