SCOPE
Renovation & Addition

After conducting multiple studies, the decision was made to renovate the existing split-level building and add two extensions to accommodate the additional space required for these essential services. Dedicated in 1958, the building presented unique challenges to the design team, who worked diligently to bring it up to today's standards.

The final design organized the community and municipal programs on the upper level, while the police department is situated on the lower level. A highlight of the renovation is the new 1,200 square-foot community room, featuring large walls of windows that offer natural light and views of the surrounding landscape. This versatile space is used for council meetings and is available for residents to rent. The upper level also includes ADA-accessible restrooms, village administrative offices and a shared kitchenette/break room. A deck off the community room provides a picturesque overlook of Minerva Lake.

The police department received several upgrades, including a secure entrance, processing and evidence rooms, and new locker rooms for officers. The updated finishes throughout the building utilize modern, sustainable materials that harmonize with the natural landscape of the park.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Nov. 3, 2023, to celebrate the new facility, which now meets the needs of area residents and stands as a testament to the community’s dedication to progress and improvement.
