Isaac Wendel’s journey through Purdue University Fort Wayne has been marked by a passion for service and involvement, a trait deeply rooted in his upbringing in the small town of St. Henry, Ohio. As highlighted in an April 17, 2024, article by Blake Sebring on the PFW website titled “Wendel Leaving a Blueprint for Involvement,” the GM intern’s family instilled in him a strong commitment to community.
“Service was always such a big thing for me,” Wendel told Sebring, reflecting on the culture of his hometown where helping a neighbor is a way of life.
From his early days at PFW, Wendel has been a whirlwind of activity. He filled his college days with diverse experiences, stretching beyond the confines of his mechanical engineering major. His involvements ranged from volunteering in a biology lab studying aquaponics to founding student organizations like The Herd and the Summit City Journal, and even venturing into e-sports.
His dedication didn’t go unnoticed, as Wendel was twice named a Top 50 designee, an honor recognizing outstanding students across various disciplines at PFW. His commitment also extended into his professional life, working part-time and full-time during breaks at Garmann Miller.

This seamless integration of academic pursuits and professional commitments underscores a work ethic that aligns closely with Garmann Miller’s mission: To provide the highest level of quality and performance.
As he prepares to graduate in May as a Chapman Scholar, his story serves as a testament to the impact of active participation and service on both personal and professional growth. His journey at PFW not only left a blueprint for involvement but also set a standard for future graduates, illustrating how deeply personal values can resonate with and enhance a company’s mission.
“We’re excited to have Isaac with us full time,” said Garmann Miller CEO Eric Baltzell. “His passion is contagious and his commitment to all he does is exactly what we look for in a team member.”
