Garmann Miller partnered with DeKalb County Central United School District to deliver strategic improvements across the district’s 6–12 campus and elementary buildings. The work enhances career and technical education spaces, student wellness facilities, learning environments, athletic venues, and overall building performance.
At DeKalb High School, renovations focused on two high-use areas: the agriculture shop and the strength and conditioning room. The ag shop was reconfigured to better support hands-on instruction, while the weight room was upgraded for durability, functionality, and long-term performance. Replacement doors and storefront systems throughout the building improve safety, security, and energy efficiency. Additional future work supporting the performing arts and a new activity center will bring more than 56,000 square feet of new and renovated space to the campus.
Athletic upgrades strengthen both performance and the game-day experience. Improvements include synthetic turf replacement of the football field, track resurfacing, enhanced field event areas, a digital scoreboard, and a 10-court tennis complex. Enhancements to the football and track complex also include a ticket booth, landscaped entry plaza, accessible parking, paved band practice lot, concessions, and locker room/restroom building, 1,500-seat bleacher, and press box. Two restroom and covered pavilion structures will be incorporated as a part of future phasing.
At DeKalb Middle School, updates focus on building systems, finishes, and the student arrival experience. Interior renovations include HVAC and lighting upgrades, refreshed finishes, and improvements to corridors, the cafeteria, band and science areas, and common gathering spaces. A semi-translucent entrance canopy and site enhancements modernize the main entry while reinforcing Baron-themed identity. Replacement doors and storefront systems further enhance performance and security.
At Waterloo Elementary School, classroom renovations improve finishes, casework, plumbing fixtures, and electrical systems. At Country Meadow Elementary School, exterior door replacements and window upgrades modernize the building envelope and overall performance.
