SCOPE
New Construction
Garmann Miller partnered with Kenton City Schools in engaging the community and developing a master plan through a series of meetings with district staff, local leaders, and community members. This collaborative process set a clear vision for the district’s future learning environments.
To fund the project, the community passed a 6.48-mill levy in November 2021, supplemented by $30 million from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission. The result is a new 171,522-square-foot, multi-story middle/high school (7-12) that consolidates two existing schools into one modern facility, serving nearly 900 students.

A key design feature is a dedicated space for showcasing student projects and activities. The art room, computer lab, maker space, and conservation lab are strategically placed adjacent to the student dining area to highlight student work.
The new school also includes a 762-seat Performing Arts Center with a 3,000-square-foot stage featuring a partial fly system, along with a recording studio, video production room, and a 1,528-seat gymnasium. Additionally, the Wildcat Health Center, operated by Health Partners of Western Ohio, provides medical, behavioral health, social services, and substance use treatment within the school clinic.

An on-site three-acre pond serves as both an outdoor classroom and a stormwater retention system, enhancing the school’s educational and environmental initiatives.
The new middle-high building marks the completion of a project that began with the construction of the Kenton Elementary School (PK-6) in 2014 in an effort to provide modern spaces for all Wildcat students and staff.
