The building addition & renovation is multi-faceted in meeting a wide array of needs for the district. In total, the district is looking to add approximately 27,500 sf of new space in addition to renovating portions of their existing K-12 school building. One of the key academic features of the new building addition is a career tech/ FFA classroom and associated flexible lab space.
Another important feature is extending the current junior high gymnasium to the west and converting this gym to the varsity high school gymnasium to provide additional spectator seating for their extracurricular athletic programs. This new gymnasium will also have a permanent and elevated stage at the east end to better serve the district’s fine and musical arts programs and yet have deployable spectator bleachers for athletic events. The stage will have ADA accessibility and direct access to the current band instrumental room. Locker rooms, coaches’ offices, and other support spaces will be directly accessible off the gymnasium as well.
Other areas being addressed in the building addition in a community center, which includes a wellness center and a multi-purpose room / auxiliary gymnasium. The community center will be available to the community during the typical school day, as it has been designed to be closed off from the school operations. The multi-purpose room / auxiliary gymnasium will have basketball courts, volleyball courts, pickleball courts, a walking track and a batting cage (on a mezzanine).
