Today is National Intern Day, which gives us the opportunity to celebrate the passion, dedication and potential of the young designers who contribute to so many of our successful projects. We acknowledge the profound impact internships have on shaping careers and the future of the design industry.

While reflecting on her experience at Garmann Miller, Myah Husted noted how her time assisting our design team this summer has enhanced her organizational communication skills. “I’m much more comfortable talking to clients and new people in the professional world,” the Ohio University senior remarked.

Completing an internship at Garmann Miller also improves a student’s ability to earn full-time employment after graduation at GM. Veteran designers such as executive director and board member Matt Hibner, professionally certified interior designer Hannah Fleck and architect Ryan Heitkamp all spent time learning at GM while in college.

“I firmly believe that internships are not just steppingstones; they are the foundation upon which future leaders and innovators are shaped,” Garmann Miller CEO Eric Baltzell said. “Embracing internships has nurtured a culture of learning, growth and collaboration.”
