Acts of compassion shine the brightest in the wake of tragedy. This sentiment resonates deeply with Garmann Miller team member Katie Yinger, who recently volunteered for a week with Samaritan’s Purse to aid in the tornado recovery efforts in Mayfield, Kentucky. Samarian’s Purse is a nonprofit organization working to help meet the needs of people around the world who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters and disease.

The devastation caused by the tornadoes that tore through the area in December 2021 left a profound impact, with at least 88 lives lost in what became the deadliest December tornado event in U.S. history. Katie’s journey to Mayfield exemplifies GM’s commitment to making a positive difference in communities facing adversity.
On a separate occasion, additional team members including Hannah Holtzapple and Hayden Pottkotter traveled with a group organized by Samaritan’s Purse to Logan County for one day in March to aid the Indian Lake community that was devastated by an EF-3 tornado.

Garmann Miller supports philanthropic endeavors in various ways not only during the month of April, National Volunteer Month, but all throughout the year. One way is by providing each team member with eight hours of paid volunteer time annually, empowering them to actively engage in causes they are passionate about and making a meaningful difference in the world. A dedicated group of team members known as the Game Changers also help orchestrate philanthropic endeavors throughout the year, encouraging all team members to join in the culture of giving back.
“We are profoundly grateful to our team members who give back. Their dedication not only strengthens our communities but also embodies the very essence of who we are as a company – compassionate, caring, and committed to making a positive impact.” Garmann Miller CEO Eric Baltzell.
Through acts of kindness and generosity, we can rebuild and create a brighter future for all. To learn more about Samartian’s Purse and its volunteer opportunities, visit samaritanspurse.org.
