Our primary responsibility as a design firm is to take a vision and concept and transform it into a modern, efficient space. However, our duty at Garmann/Miller goes beyond a physical structure and the essential functions of our industry to give back to the communities we work for and live in every day.
In 2019, a philanthropic committee of team members was formed as part of GMAE’s strategic plan. Under the priority of enhancing lives, this effort truly showed the significance we place on giving back. Named the GAME Changers, this fledgling team of do-gooders aims to enhance people’s lives through community involvement. From organizing Secret Santa gifts for families in need to donations to area healthcare workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 battlefield, this committee’s contributions have made a real difference. Recently seven northwest and central Ohio hospitals received food and drink provided by the GAME Changers.
“Giving back is part of our role as community builders,” said Doug Rentz, GMAE director of communication. “Our industry is all about relationships, so when we can lend a helping hand and make some friends along the way, it’s a win-win.”
Many of the firm’s team members also are involved in philanthropic groups focused on supporting charitable needs on their own time as well. According to an internal survey, nearly 75 different organizations are served by team GMAE in giving time, talent and treasure.
During National Volunteer Week, April 19-25, we honor all the individuals who make time out of their busy days to lend a hand for a needed cause.
